ATS resume score
An ATS score that explains itself
A number on its own doesn’t help. Ergent’s score comes with the reasons behind it, the fixes ranked by how much they’re likely to help, and the exact text the parser extracted.

Why it matters
A score without reasons can’t tell you what to change, and a ranking against other people can’t tell you anything about this job. A useful score is tied to the job description and shows its working, so you can spend your time on the fixes that matter.
What goes into the score
- Keyword match with the job description, when you paste one
- Parsability: readable text, standard headings, contact details and dates
- Formatting risks such as tables, columns and graphics
- How specific your bullets are — results and numbers you already have
- Whether each section is complete
Why it’s an estimate, not a verdict
Real applicant tracking systems differ, and recruiters search them in different ways. The score is the AI’s assessment against the checks above, shown with its reasoning. It never compares you with other applicants or claims a percentile.
How to raise it honestly
- Fix anything the parser couldn’t read first — it affects everything else
- Add missing keywords only where they’re true for you, in the bullets that prove them
- Replace task descriptions with what changed because of your work, using numbers you have
- Keep one column, standard headings and plain text

Why Ergent
- AI that sticks to your factsRewrites and letters work from your resume. Claims it can’t find there are flagged, and missing details become [prompts] for you — not invented numbers.
- Scores that explain themselvesEvery score comes with the reasons, the parsed text and ranked fixes. No percentiles or “better than 87% of applicants”.
- Specific to each jobPaste the job description and the check, the tailoring, the letter and the interview questions are all written for that job.
- Interview practice from your own resumeQuestions come from the job and your experience, and feedback points to what you could have mentioned from your resume.
- One workspace, start to finishResume versions, job descriptions, letters, applications and interview prep stay connected, so you don’t paste the same things five times.
Questions
- What’s a good ATS score?
- Higher is better, but treat it as a guide: fix the items in the report that apply to you and check again. Ergent shows the score you could reach if you made the listed fixes, as a rough estimate.
- Why did my score change when I checked again?
- Scores are produced by an AI review, so the same resume can land a few points apart. If you changed the text or the job description, the score reflects that.
- Will this guarantee my resume passes every ATS?
- No tool can promise that — companies use different systems and set them up differently. Ergent checks the things most parsers rely on (readable text, standard headings, contact details, dates, the job’s keywords) and shows you exactly what it read, so you can fix what’s in your control.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Every tool works on the Free plan. Without an account you get 10 AI requests an hour; a free account gets 60 an hour and saves your work. Pro only raises the limits.
