AI cover letter generator
A cover letter written from your resume — not made up
Give Ergent the job description and your resume, pick a tone and length, and get a letter for that job. Anything the letter says that your resume doesn’t support is flagged, and where a detail would help, you get a [prompt] to fill in yourself.

Why it matters
A generic letter is easy to spot, and a letter that claims experience you don’t have can cost you in the interview. A useful draft is specific to the job and built only from what you’ve actually done — then it’s yours to edit.
Built to avoid invented facts
- Written from your resume and the job description only
- A check flags numbers, employers, tools or experience that your resume doesn’t show
- Missing details become [bracketed prompts] instead of guesses
Make it yours
- Four tones and three lengths
- Pick the job keywords to focus on
- Edit directly; signed-in letters save automatically and can be tied to a tracked application
- Download as Word or PDF, or copy it

From the sample letter
I care about analysis that changes what gets built. When our monthly reporting was taking three days, I automated the data pulls in SQL and brought it down to one, which gave the team time back for the questions that mattered. [Add one decision your checkout reports or dashboards influenced, if you can name it.]
The highlighted [prompt] is a detail only the candidate can add — Ergent leaves it rather than inventing one.
Who it’s for
- Applicants for roles that ask for a cover letter
- Anyone writing several letters a week who wants a specific first draft fast
Why Ergent
- AI that sticks to your factsRewrites and letters work from your resume. Claims it can’t find there are flagged, and missing details become [prompts] for you — not invented numbers.
- Scores that explain themselvesEvery score comes with the reasons, the parsed text and ranked fixes. No percentiles or “better than 87% of applicants”.
- Specific to each jobPaste the job description and the check, the tailoring, the letter and the interview questions are all written for that job.
- Interview practice from your own resumeQuestions come from the job and your experience, and feedback points to what you could have mentioned from your resume.
- One workspace, start to finishResume versions, job descriptions, letters, applications and interview prep stay connected, so you don’t paste the same things five times.
Questions
- How long should a cover letter be?
- Usually 200–400 words. Short works when the application form is long; Detailed (up to 500 words) suits roles that ask for a fuller letter.
- Will recruiters know it was written with AI?
- The letter is a draft built from your own facts. Read it, fill in the prompts, and change anything that doesn’t sound like you — that’s what makes it yours.
- Does it add skills I don’t have?
- It’s instructed not to, and a separate check flags any claim your resume doesn’t support so you can remove it. AI can still get things wrong, so read before you send.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Every tool works on the Free plan. Without an account you get 10 AI requests an hour; a free account gets 60 an hour and saves your work. Pro only raises the limits.
- What happens to my resume?
- It’s used to run the tool and, if you’re signed in, saved to your account. It isn’t sold or used for advertising, and you can delete everything from Settings.
